AE CREST FACTOR EARLY DAMAGE WARNING

20-30__ALARM CONDITION - Take more effective action
>31+___DANGER CONDITION - Plan for replacement

ASSIGNING PRIORITY LEVELS

GOOD CONDITION

___No abnormal trends or performance are noted at the time of data collection, thus no action is typically recommended at this time, and acquisition is scheduled for the next calendar date.

ACTION: No Action required.

SUSPECT CONDITION

___Typically employed when a change in machine performance or mechanical wear mechanism is detected, however, trends need to be observed to determine if the machine stabilizes, or if operational methods is causing the excursion. It is recommended to be re-greased and complete a lubrication oil change. Typically, measurement frequency is doubled during this period

ACTION: Re-greasing or Lubrication Oil change then re-inspection.

ALARM CONDITION

___Machinery data indicates operation is in the rough category. Plans should be made to arrange repair outage or replacement at the first availability. Vibration, oil, temperature and operational data should be examined to determine dynamic data trends and the root cause of problem. This allows for systemic failure repair (for example, bearings, lubrication, etc.), and allows the source of the faults to be identified. Repairs and operational options (imbalance, misalignment, excessive machine speed, coolant problems, etc.) may be used to prolong machinery availability and minimize loss of production.

ACTION: - Apply FFT analysis to identify the problem.
_________- Prolong the machines life by adding grease or changing lubrication oil.
_________- Using alternative CBM technique to confirm the machine degradation.

DANGER CONDITION

___Machinery data indicates that failure is imminent. Machinery requires immediate attention, and the immediate repair shutdown should be seriously considered. During with this level of damage, the machine should be monitored a minimum of once per day.

ACTION: - Follow up inspection and trending more frequently.
_________- Apply FFT analysis to identify the problem.
_________- Predict and confirm by alternative techniques.
_________- Consider how best to replace the defective part as soon as economically practical.
